Alexander the Great is far from being a new fandom. His life, his death, his battles and his relationships have always provided an attraction to both writers and readers.
However, the Oliver Stone movie has rekindled the flame of the famous Macedonian leader. As every historical movie, "Alexander" wasn't and couldn't be a complete and accurate portrait of the ancient hero, of course, but it was nevertheless a good introduction to which the new fans responded to. They gained interest in Alexander's life, in the time he lived in and in the culture of his people.
